Absentee Voters Left Out in Georgia
This morning, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that some voters in Gwinnett County applied for absentee ballots, but never received them, and are now showing up to polling places asking to vote in person.
In these situations, the paper reported, poll workers must call back to election headquarters, ask that officials cancel the absentee ballot and then allow the voter to cast a ballot in person.
We put in a call to the communications director for the county Board of Registration and Elections, but his voicemail is turned off. We also left a message with the elections division of the secretary of state’s office to see if the problem is happening in other counties. We’ll let you know if we hear anything.
