2 p.m.—The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee examines FEMA’s Response to the 2008 Hurricane Season and the National Housing Strategy.
The Military Personnel Subcommittee convenes for another in a series of hearings on sexual assault in the military.
2:30 p.m.—The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence reviews proposed changes to attorney general guidelines on how the FBI can conduct criminal and national security investigations and gather foreign intelligence.
Wednesday, Sept. 24
9:30 a.m. – The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit hears preliminary arguments in Rep. William Jefferson’s federal corruption trial. The full hearing is scheduled to begin Dec. 2, 2008.
10 a.m.—The House Committee on Energy and Commerce holds a hearing titled “Hazardous Substance Releases and Reporting Under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) and the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 (EPCRA).” You can watch it on the committee’s Web site.
The Oversight and Government Reform Committee holds a hearing titled “Implementation and Enforcement of the Clean Water Act.”
10:45 a.m.—The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing on “Extracting Natural Resources: Corporate Responsibility and the Rule of Law.”
2:30 p.m.—The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security holds a hearing titled “Visa Waiver Program: Mitigating Risks to Ensure the Safety of All Americans.”
Thursday, Sept. 25
9:30 a.m.—Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs holds a hearing titled “Preventing Nuclear Terrorism: Hard Lessons Learned from Troubled Investments.”
10 a.m.—The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations reviews “Continuing Security Concerns at the Department of Energy’s National Labs.” You can watch it at the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Web site.
