Ex-Leader of Charity for Disabled Gets 10 Years in Prison, Must Pay $65 Million

Yesterday, a judge sentenced the former CEO of an El Paso charity to 10 years in prison and $65 million in restitution for corruption and embezzlement involving the federal government’s biggest jobs program for the disabled.

The sentence is the result of a federal probe launched after a 2006 investigation by reporters Les Zaitz, Jeff Kosseff, Byan Denson and photographer Faith Cathcart at The (Portland) Oregonian. Examining charities that hired the disabled nationwide, they found non-profit executives were cashing in huge paychecks while their disabled workers made pennies an hour.

Interesting that there is no mention of who the perpetrator is (Bob Jones).  And I always wonder when there are these spectacular fines or restitution orders, what the odds are that even a small fraction will ever be paid.  That is, what is Bob Jones worth, anything like $65 million?

Bob Jones should have given Obama and Bush big campaign contributions, then Jones could have destroyed disabled peoples lives and know that he would never be prosecuted !

Please go to http://www.godknowsobamaknows.blogspot.com to see quotes from numerous U.S. Judges that prove Obama’s top managers are currently allowing insurance company doctors’ to ignore brain lesions, multiple sclerosis, cardiac conditions, cancer, and they also viciously attack psychological patients.

Doesn’t the US have a death penalty? What is it’s point if you don’t use it for this?

@Barry:  You’ll have much more success in bringing your case before the public eye if all of your blog’s assertions and quotations are linked to the pertinent documentation which in turn are themselves commonly accepted as being reputable sources…sources which would hold up in court…and I mean a court potentially populated with judges of the sort Republicans appoint.

That is not criticism - it is just that people who may be thinking about going out on a limb usually want to ensure that the tree isn’t made of balsa wood.

lolll…at least, their second and later gravity-defying ventures tend to show that desire.

Thank you Steve. I’ve had cancer removed from one eye and there’s so much evidence it’s overwhelming. I have copies from letters sent to me from Washington, the Judges quotes were extracted from lenghty case orders, but most importantly if the DOJ and DOL would do their job this destruction of lives would end quickly.

The crimes seen on my blog are bigger than Enron, much more dangerous, and if ProPublica or some other independent news group would cover the story that might help save thousands of lives !!

Thank you for your suggestion and your kind intent.
