I am very happy to voice my opinion and to try to stop the educational budget to be lowered.

I am very happy to voice my opinion on this subject ...without for profit opportunity education ...individuals like me disabled for life, stuck with limited income, and over the age of 60 (there is age discrimination in the work force, you just cannot prove it). I am 29 at heart and plan to work for a long time.

I think this is a great opportunity for graduates such as myself to express how education has helped them.

For those of you who responded about the great opportunity afforded by these private colleges, I have this question: Did you explore community colleges? If so, what did you pay for the private college compared to the community college costs? Why did you make the choice you made and are you happy with it?
ProPublica: You might want to add a cost question to your survey!

i have never gone to private college. there are some great ones out there. I have checked some out. I don’t think I could afford one. I made my choice because I thought the university was a good choice. It had the courses I needed for my subject of study. and they worked with me on filling out my papers and explained how things worked. I hope I paid a fair price compared to private college cost

Being an older student it was a big decision for me to make. I enjoyed attending Kaplan on-line because I am handicapped and it was the easiest way to get my degree.

Well, I am over 50 and I went to culinary school, paid my money but it didn’t really help me, I couldn’t get the job I wanted, because I didn’t have 1 to 5 years experience, just being out of school wasn’t enough, its tough out there and the jobs are available, but without the experience you haven’t a chance. The problem is that the restaurants don’t want to have to train you, and therefor you have to settle for what ever you can to pay your bills. I wanted to go to Pastry school but declined, there isn’t work out there when you finish, so I will take classes at stores and establishments that offer.
I know several people who graduated from culinary and still haven’t got a job. Its not just culinary jobs either other careers are hurting the same way.
I hope this will help future students and propublica try to ease the burden of students finding jobs and for employers willing to let us in and at least try to work with us and train us.

I am a huge supporter of the university that I attended. I graduated summa cum laude and after having such a great experience I plan to continue my education. I think that these colleges provide a unique experience for some that are not able to attend a traditional classroom. I would recommend my college to any student that was looking for this kind of environment and will continue to be involved with other students that are still in this university!

I would recommend Kaplan University Online to anyone who asks. I have had such a great experience with them myself. Having 5 children and a full time job made Kaplan my choice. It made getting my Bachelor’s so much smoother that I am planning on attending there for my Masters this year. Not having to commute and take more time from my family was the deal sealer. I loved the fact that I could attend while sitting at home with my children. The courses supplied much information needed for my field.
I look forward to attending my Masters classes and graduating with the degree.

I strongly recommend Kaplan University Online. The flexibility of the class schedules and the ability to work at my own pace and when time allowed made earning my degree possible. I have a full time job, a family and care for elderly parents so this approach worked best for me. In addition, I enjoyed the opportunity to work independently without having to sit through scheduled classes with younger people. I graduated summa cum laude and appreciated the real-world experience offered by the instructors - it made the experience much more meaningful. The Kaplan experience introduced me to people from around the world with a vast diversity of experience and backgrounds. I enjoyed getting to know my classmates from all over the world.

It was my pleasure to have my voice heard. I strongly encourage students to attend Kaplan University. My Kaplan experience introduced me to people from around the world with a vast diversity of experience and backgrounds. The real life experience that my Instructors brought to the class room was a major plus. We learned a great deal interacting with our fellow students and had the opportunities to contact our Instructors whenever we need to. Without this type of education I would not be as fortunate right now to earned my degree.

I was a star student at Kaplan University on mine and I loved it. My advisor, Tom was great and he really worked with me. I was able to graduate from Kaplan after two terms so that was exciting to me. The instructors were understanding and really worked with me. My last three weeks, I faced a lot of obstables but my instructors worked with me and had patience. One of my instructors, Ms. Stacey Stember became concerned and called me when seeing my grades decrease. Through it all, I was able to maintain a high GPA and not get amything lower than a B in my classes. A special thank you to God first and foremost for working things out in my favor. I also thank my parents, Shannon and Donald Cooper for their prayers. When I didn’t see my way out and didn’t know the value of prayer, my parents did and I thank God for them. My sisters, LaDonna, Kendra, and LaVon- thank you for the tough love and encouragement. Kendra sometimes I think you are my Big sister but we know I am older and I am going to be there more. Ladonna and LaVon-thank you for your patience and not giving up on me. Pastor Shaw and my New Sawyer’s Creek church family, thank you for the constant prayers. I have a good heart but may not always make the best choices. Pastor Rubell and House of Christ Outreach Ministries-I love you. Thank you for encouraging me and having my back. Much love to you and I am grateful to have a best friend to pray for me and with me. Kaplan has made me grow both in the natural and the spiritual because I know what God can do and how He can turn the negativeness in my life and turn it into something positive. Kaplan is a great university and anyone who attends will be satisfied!
