No Probs in N. Dakota—Because No Registration is Required!

by Jennifer LaFleur, ProPublica - November 4, 2008 2:57 pm EST

Problems with voter registration in North Dakota? Not an issue. That’s because the Peace Garden State is the only state that does not require registration to vote, according to the North Dakota Secretary of State’s Web site. The state’s legislature repealed the registration requirement in 1951. So to vote, adults go to the precinct where have lived for at least 30 days and show their IDs.

Voting in North Dakota is so unique that filmmaker Jacob Soboroff is there today, along with actress Kirsten Dunst filming a documentary about voting.
