Quick Picks: Obama Gets an F and Lawmakers Get Lobbyist Cash

- The founder of defense lobbying firm PMA Group and his family have given $1.5 million to lawmakers since 2000, a “sizable chunk” of which went to House members who control Pentagon spending, reports CQ Today. The company is under investigation by the FBI and plans to fold, but it managed to reap $100 billion in government contracts for its clients in 2007 alone. - President Barack Obama and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner probably aren’t used to getting F’s, but that’s what economists gave them in a Wall Street Journal survey out today. According to the Journal, “A majority of the 49 economists polled said they were dissatisfied with the administration’s economic policies,” pointing to “delays in enacting key parts of plans to rescue banks.” A Treasury spokesman told the paper: “This crisis was years in the making, and it will take time to solve.”
