WATCH: Joaquin Sapien on the Dangers of Formaldehyde

ProPublica reporter Joaquin Sapien was a guest on Democracy Now! to discuss the dangers of formaldehyde, a chemical found in plastics, plywood and common hair salon products, which the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has just added to its list of known carcinogens.

The chemical industry has been lobbying against labeling formaldehyde as a carcinogen for years despite growing concerns that formaldehyde exposure can lead to leukemia.

Watch the interview below and read Joaquin’s latest post on formaldehyde issues, “HHS Declares Formaldehyde a Carcinogen, Impact on Regulations Remains Unknown.” You can also follow him on Twitter, @jbsapien, for more on his reporting.
