We need to go back and look at all the oil spill lawsuits . There is still an oil spill lawsuit going on in Massachusetts !

On April 27, 2003, eight years ago the Bouchard Barge B-120 hit an obstacle in Buzzards Bay, creating a 12-foot rupture in its hull and discharging an estimated 100,000 gallons of No. 6 oil. The oil is known to have affected an estimated 90 miles of shoreline, killed 450 numerous bird species, and recreational use of the bay, such as shell fishing and boating.

Since the 2003 oil spill the US Coast Guard has appealed the 2004 Massachusetts Oil Spill Prevention Act and one Mattapoisett,Massachusetts property damage lawsuit has dragged on for eight years.

Real truth….from a business owners perspective.

People are NOT being paid for emergency business and individual claims through the GCCF as promised. We are receiving 10% to 25% of what we lost in either earnings or wages from the Oil Spill. I’m still waiting for a payment my very first payment since filing a claim in June… yes JUNE!. My company has lost approx $450,000.00 and I had to let go employees. We were fed a bunch of lies and false promises and said help was on the way through the GCCF.

If Feinberg thinks he can measure his success by the amount of lawsuits filed by individuals and businesses in the five states effected by the Oil Spill he is in for a very rude awakening. I would guess to say only about 10% of all claims will sign their life away to not sue BP for future damages. BP look out because you will have 90% of us to tie you, your attorneys and all your share holders money up in court for the next 20 years.

Gulf Coast is a community and our community will unite and take on the big boys. They might call us little people but we are huge in numbers.

What you, as the US business editor ought to be asking, is how anyone can expect to get a fair hearing in a country whose President saw fit to trample all over the basic constitutional and legal right to be treated as innocent until proven guilty.

Having unilaterally “found” BP to be grossly negligent, Obama led a lynch mob in strong-arming a committment from BP to create this fund, abusing the goodwill shown by the Company to meet legitimate hardship claims outside of normal due process. It is sobering to measure the quantum extracted from BP against Obama’s recently announced fiscal programme of $50bn.

It is about time that you, the press, told Obama that the world expects the leader of the World’s foremost Democracy to behave somewhat better than a jack-booted 3rd World dictator and maybe you should suggest that, given the hysterical bias led by the President, that legal claims should be processed by an international court, rather than US kangaroo courts emboldened by an opportunisitic and populist President.

I finally got through to GCCF and they told me the same thing they always say. Your claim is under review and no documentation is needed, no red flag.
She said I will mark your claim and what does that mean? It took me almost an hour with cell phone to reach them. I wait till after 9 and it doesn’t count as min.

Oil Spill Remains an Issue for the Gulf Coast

According to a report by the Associated Press, the Gulf Coast oil spill was dis- covered to have been downplayed by the Obama administration.

As a result of a preliminary report published last Wednesday by the Associated Press, the Gulf Coast oil spill was discovered to have been downplayed by the Obama administration, although White house press secretary, Robert Gibbs, denies the claim.

“This was an unprecedented environmental disaster met with an unprecedented federal response which prevented any of the worst-case scenarios from coming to fruition,” Gibbs said. “When we had the information, we gave it to the public.”

However, according to the Associated Press, the Obama administration released early numbers avoiding the disclosure of the national oil spill commission’s worst findings. According to these early reports, the White House Office of Budget and Administration forbade its scientists to inform the public of the extremity of the situation. The numbers were vastly underestimated in comparison to the 11 lives taken and roughly 60,000 barrels of oil spilled, as was eventually found out.

“They underestimated the numbers and had access to more information than they were willing to admit. The independent companies were more accurate than the government, and it’s not surprising that the information has been contradictory,” UNCW professor of biology and marine biology Larry Cahoon said.

“There is a legacy within the Department of the Interior to be very cozy with the oil industry, and the Obama administration certainly had a very comfortable relationship,” Cahoon added. “There’s reluctance, within the government, to say the truth of our dependence on oil, so you must always take what they say about oil, with that in mind. They won’t always tell you the full truth.”

Hey thought you where keeping track of the days for us
vets of the bp process. I also started with a bp claim. I had a bp claim for about a month befor the gccf took over. bp finaly told me that the gccf was taking over and like many of you I have been calling since aug 22nd trying to see if my claim was transferd to the gccf.  when they oped on the 23 they had no info on me and i was advised to start a new claim.
so I started a claim from scrach. not a problem I already had it all in a folder faxed it over and was hoping for a check within a week or two tops. I have been told that all my documents are in order and there is nothing elts I can do on my end. my claim has also been on revew all this time. I called the help line today and waited for 20 min. befor geting disconnected withought talking to anyone.

its just as well calling the help line is like talking to a wall

I filed my BP claim on September 6, 2010 and it was escalated on October 9, 2010.  I have called everyday for the past 3 weeks and no change in my status.  I received a phone call from someone on the escalation team and was told that my claim was in the final stage, but they could not tell me how long it will be in the final stage or when a decision would be made by a reviewer.  So here I still wait for a decision and the backlog supposedly has been eliminated.

My claim was submitted on 9/30/10 and actually went to the under review status in only two days. Then changed to needs more information from claimant, So i faxed in the required documents i was missing. About a wek later status changed to under reviw. But on the progam statictics for claimants, it stil reads needs more info. Not sure why they where different so i called the hotline. Women told me it was under review and that they had recieved all documents needed, and didnt know why the status was different in the program statictics for claimants. its been over a week and they both still have the two different status. Anyone else having this prolbem? Should I contunie to call gccf to get answer about this?
