Gov't Reports Stimulus' Impact on Income

Today's roundup of stimulus coverage:

"The income of Americans soared in May because of the government's economic stimulus," reports the Wall Street Journal. Calculated Risk points out that consumer spending remains weak. All of the raw data is available at the Bureau of Economic Analysis, a division of the U.S. Commerce Department.

More than 100 new police officers will hit New York City's streets, thanks to the stimulus.

First seniors, now veterans. The Treasury Department began mailing $250 stimulus checks to veterans this week, according to Stars and Stripes. (ProPublica pointed out in May that millions of senior citizens may not want to cash those checks just yet: They'll see that $250 deducted from their tax credits next spring.)
