The success of the stimulus will hinge in large part on the speed with which the government is able to distribute the $792 billion in the stimulus package. Unfortunately, the breakdowns the government uses to track the spending can be more than a bit confusing. (Quick: Define “obligated.” (PDF))

So we’re launching a new weekly feature that — with plain English descriptions — gives a clearer sense of where money is in the pipeline. You can look at it in total or broken down by agency and see how quickly the government is spending all that stimulus money.
