In a secretive, politically sensitive operation in the deserts of the Arizona-Sonora border, U.S. Border Patrol agents and Mexican federal police officers are training together, sharing intelligence and coordinating patrols. As a result of this U.S.-Mexican crackdown, northbound smuggling routes have shifted. The corridor of migrant smuggling has shifted eastward toward Douglas while northbound marijuana smuggling routes have moved westward toward Sonoita. | Read the related story.
