ProPublica is pleased to announce a grant from the Diamonstein-Spielvogel Foundation for a new series of live events, which will aim to deepen our audience’s understanding about pressing current events, inspire lively discussions about what’s at stake and spark ideas for real-world change. This grant continues the foundation’s commitment to offer organizations like ProPublica support for original projects based on results-driven and innovative strategies.

Over two years, the foundation will provide $200,000 to fund in-person and virtual conversations that draw on ProPublica’s national and local reporting, convening our journalists and editors, community members and policy experts to drill deeply into a wide range of topics, including national politics, immigration, climate change, health care and more.

“We’ve learned over the years that our readers really value the opportunity to directly engage with our reporters, subject matter experts and the individuals impacted by the stories they cover,” said Alexis Stephens, director of communications at ProPublica.“And in turn, our event panelists take care to respond to as many audience questions as possible, make complex issues more accessible and share vivid, behind-the-scenes details about what it takes to pull a ProPublica investigation together. We’re very grateful to be able to enhance how we convene our community and, hopefully, generate more impact.”

“I am honored to support ProPublica’s live event series,” said Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel. “Investigative journalism plays a critical role in our democracy, and I am pleased that through their event series ProPublica can engage even more people in their important work.”
