NBC Selects ProPublica as New Nonprofit Partner

NBC Owned Television Stations announced today that ProPublica will be one of a growing network of nonprofit partners it will be working with in its new local news gathering efforts.

Modeled after NBC San Diego's existing partnership with voicesofsandiego.org, this new collaboration will give NBC Owned Television Stations a first look at ProPublica's news applications across all 10 NBC "owned and operated" stations.

"ProPublica is very excited about our partnership with the NBC owned stations," Richard Tofel, general manager of ProPublica, said. "We're confident this agreement will extend the reach and impact of ProPublica's groundbreaking news applications and result in great local stories for NBC viewers across the country. Beyond that, we're very grateful for NBCUniversal's commitment to supporting innovative nonprofit journalism in the public interest."

ProPublica is joined by The Chicago Reader, WHYY in Philadelphia and KPCC in Los Angeles, each working with the NBC station in their communities. ProPublica will be the only partner to work with all 10 stations directly.
