ProPublica Named Finalist for 13 ONA Awards

ProPublica was named a finalist for 13 honors in the 2014 Online Journalism Awards today, including General Excellence in Online Journalism for its website.

Segregation Now secured nominations for four awards – Knight Award for Public Service, Explanatory Reporting, Feature, Excellence and Innovation in Visual Digital Storytelling – and, for its Six Words component, a nomination for the Online Commentary Award.

We also shared two nominations with other journalism organizations:

  • For Tabula, a tool for liberating data tables locked inside PDF files, developed with Mozilla OpenNews and La Nación of Argentina. It is a finalist for the Gannett Foundation Award for Technical Innovation in the Service of Digital Journalism.
  • For Surveillance coverage, in collaboration with The New York Times, in the Topical Reporting category.

The winners will be announced at the 2014 ONA Conference and Online Journalism Awards Banquet on Sept. 27 in Chicago. Congratulations to all the finalists.
