ProPublica Wins 2 Deadline Club Awards

Two ProPublica projects won Deadline Club awards last night at a ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Lois Beckett’s article “Black America’s Invisible Crisis,” published with Essence Magazine as part of a series on post-traumatic stress disorder from neighborhood shootings, won the public service award.

Segregation Now,” Nikole Hannah-Jones’ multimedia exploration of the resegregation of America’s schools, won the award for newspaper or digital beat reporting.

In related news, “Segregation Now” also received an honorable mention today in the Silver Gavel Awards for Media and the Arts, given by the American Bar Association.
