ProPublica’s newsroom remains focused on journalism that spurs change. For nearly two decades, we have exposed abuses of power and betrayals of the public trust, and we have seen how those facts inspire action and reform. This year has been no different.
This week we published ProPublica’s first Impact Report of 2025. We publish these reports three times a year to detail the real-world impact our stories have had and to hold ourselves accountable to our mission. We invite you to take a look at the full report to see how rigorous investigative journalism continues to hold power to account.
In our first Impact Report of 2025, you’ll find:
- An update on the recent impact of our work, including the recall of two dozen prescription drugs made at an Indian factory we investigated last year, the Alaska Supreme Court’s decision to limit trial delays and a legislative overhaul in Connecticut after we revealed how the state’s towing laws were harming low-income residents.
- A behind-the-scenes look at our Pulitzer Prize-winning series “Life of the Mother,” which exposed the fatal consequences of abortion bans and sparked urgent calls for change.
- A spotlight on our partnerships, including a project with Bangor Daily News in Maine that revealed how the state’s pilot eviction prevention program excluded public housing tenants at risk of losing their homes and another with KYUK and NPR about the dangerous conditions inside Alaska’s deteriorating public schools.
