1: A.C. Thompson on Police Shootings After Katrina

In the inaugural ProPublica Podcast, guest A.C. Thompson discusses his "Law and Disorder" series about the New Orleans Police Department's use of deadly force in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the poor quality of the internal investigations of those shootings. On the program, Thompson lays out some of the details that are missing from the police reports, how he obtained some of the information reported in the story, the difficulties the police force faced in the aftermath of the storm, and why the internal investigations were not as thorough as they should have been.

Since Thompson wrote his originalreports in 2008, the FBI began its own investigation of the NOPD's conduct. If you have any information about these shootings, call 504-826-3775, e-mail [email protected] or visit our "How You Can Help" page.
