ProPublica Series a Finalist for Goldsmith Investigative Awards
ProPublica is very pleased to announce that we and our partners are finalists for the 2010 Goldsmith Awards. A.C. Thompson was the lead reporter and he worked with the Nation Institute's Investigative Fund, the New Orleans Times-Picayune and PBS "Frontline" to produce reports that revealed, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, how vigilantes shot at African Americans with impunity, and the poor quality of the internal investigations done by the NOPD after its officers used deadly force.
The other finalists include the Raleigh News & Observer, KHOU-TV, The Boston Globe, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Washington Post.
Good luck to all of the finalists.
