Two of ProPublicaâs long-running investigations go live today.
In the first, done in partnership with USA Today, ProPublicaâs Michael Grabell reports on the more than three dozen federal air marshals whoâve been charged with crimes since 9/11 — crimes ranging from taking bribes to attempting to hire a hit man named “the Crucifixer.”
In the second, done in partnership with Business Week, ProPublicaâs Abrahm Lustgarten reports on evidence that hydraulic fracturing, a form of natural gas drilling used by Halliburton and other contractors in a number of states, has led to water pollution. Congress exempted the technique from the Safe Drinking Water Act in 2005.
