'Segregation Now' Named a Finalist in National Magazine Awards

The American Society of Magazine Editors has named Nikole Hannah-Jones' "Segregation Now," a ProPublica investigation with The Atlantic on the resegregation of America's schools, as a finalist for its National Magazine Awards in the public interest category.

This is the third time ProPublica has been recognized for a Magazine Award. In 2011, Robin Fields and her piece, "God Help You. You're on Dialysis," also published in The Atlantic, was a finalist for public interest. In 2010, Sheri Fink's "The Deadly Choices at Memorial," published in The New York Times Magazine, won the National Magazine Award for Reporting (as well as a Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting).

Over 1,500 entries were submitted in the National Magazine Awards this year. The winners will be announced on Monday, February 2. See the full list of finalists here.
