What I Do

I’m the assistant managing editor for standards, and I help ensure the consistency and quality of the newsroom’s work. I lead a team of copy editors, and we read everything ProPublica publishes to make sure it’s grammatically sound and adheres to Associated Press style. We serve as the last line of defense before publication, and we’re sticklers for getting things right down to the last comma.

My Background

Before joining ProPublica as the newsroom’s first standards editor in 2018, I worked for 10 years at The New York Times as a copy editor, a manager on the copy desk and a deputy editor of the newspaper’s international edition.

I previously worked at the Rocky Mountain News in Denver as a copy editor and designer.
