With a new presidential administration, as well as a world still grappling with the coronavirus pandemic, the news agenda for ProPublica is shifting once again.

No longer dealing with the twists and turns of the Trump era, our newsroom is focused on a number of key priority areas, from the environment to racial justice and economic inequality. In this pivot from covering rapidly moving politics, we’re also paying more attention to how the government is actually working — and how people’s lives are affected by issues including unemployment, stimulus efforts, the vaccine rollout and long-term damage catalyzed by the pandemic.
