ProPublica is seeking a freelance communications professional to assist our PR team with daily tasks.
The primary responsibility entails using media monitoring software and keeping track of Google alerts to produce daily reports of our media coverage and weekly round-ups of our biggest and best clips. Because ProPublica is supported by donors and offers its articles free for republishing, tracking reprints and links is also crucial to our model.
Additional tasks may be assigned, such as compiling custom clip reports for editors or fundraising staff, producing documents for awards submissions and grant applications, and other administrative work.
We’re specifically looking for someone who has:
- broad knowledge of news media and platforms and shrewd news judgment
- experience with Cision or other media monitoring software
- keen attention to detail
- facility with Microsoft Office and Google Apps programs, particularly word processing and spreadsheet applications
- the ability to work efficiently without direct oversight
This is a remote, freelance position requiring approximately 8-10 hours per week. The pay is $20/hour.
