PR & Events Associate (Contract)

We are not currently accepting applications for this position.

ProPublica is seeking a freelance PR & events associate to help support our communications and marketing team while the marketing director takes maternity leave over the summer. This includes supporting a roster of fall editorial events, as well as pitching stories to media outlets, writing press releases, and a variety of other tasks.

Events: The marketing director will have laid much groundwork for program logistics, including the development of press releases and templates for programs, invitations and other event materials. In their role, the associate will be responsible for executing outstanding tasks — primarily in the areas of speaker and partner liaison, event promotion and audience outreach — and moving them forward to keep event planning on track.

Our ideal candidate is someone with proven communications and event production savvy who is passionate about journalism that serves the public interest and community engagement. This role will report to the vice president of business development with oversight from the director of public relations, in addition to working closely with ProPublica reporters and event partners.

This is a contract position based in our New York office. Candidates should have full-time availability June-August; additional contract hours may be available throughout the fall.
