What I Do

I help conceive, execute and publish impactful data-driven journalism by working with ProPublica data reporters, our newsroom and our partners.

My Background

I joined ProPublica as an editor in 2025. I came from The Baltimore Banner, a nonprofit local newsroom covering Maryland. Stories I worked on won multiple awards, including a Pulitzer Prize, a George Polk Award and an Investigative Editors and Reporters award.

Those stories included a series revealing Baltimore’s unprecedented overdose crisis, an investigation of the transit nightmare Baltimore city schools students face to get to school each day and how listless container ships like the one that collapsed the Key Bridge are more common than previously known.

I worked with ProPublica in 2021 to computationally compile daily rent prices for some of the nation’s largest landlords for an investigation that found their data-sharing system could potentially violate laws against price-fixing, prompting a Department of Justice investigation.

I have a master’s degree from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, where I also teach data journalism.
