Meet the ProPublica Reporting Network
On Wednesday, we announced the ProPublica Reporting Network, our new citizen-journalism initiative. The response has been great: More than 500 people have already joined. We mapped our growing network’s zip codes using Google Maps – take a look at the spread.
What will the Reporting Network do?
We launched it with “Adopt a Stimulus Project,” which asks members to monitor repairs of roads and bridges funded by the stimulus. Yesterday, we published guidelines for performing background checks on companies awarded stimulus contracts. Both projects aim to deliver a greater range of information to the public – with the public’s help. Call it public service 2.0.
Join the Reporting Network here. We’ll go full force after the long weekend.
