ProPublica is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented professional as the temporary part-time development assistant through Jan. 31, 2021. The assistant will have the opportunity to gain valuable fundraising experience from our small, collegial team while assisting the development manager with donations. The primary role of the temporary assistant is to process donations using Salesforce, Classy and other fundraising tools. They will also assist with donor communications, database projects, general administration for the development team and special projects as needed.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in public affairs and experience in an office setting. The ability to take initiative, coordinate with others and follow through in a dynamic and highly confidential environment is a must. Excellent organizational ability demonstrated in meeting deadlines, setting priorities, maintaining data accuracy and working in a cooperative but self-directed manner are also critical. Database and communication skills are required, and fundraising experience is a plus. A demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is preferred. While ProPublica will supply the necessary equipment for the duration of this project; the successful candidate must have the ability to work remotely, including a secure internet connection.

We are looking for a temporary part-time assistant who will:
Process donations into Salesforce database from mail, third-party platforms and donor-advised funds, carefully tracking contact information and donation details;
Assist with donor communications, including troubleshooting email and phone queries from donors as well as assistance with the production of acknowledgment letters;
Assist with maintenance of Salesforce database including data hygiene; and
Provide general administrative support to the development staff, as needed.
The development assistant is a temporary part-time, 20 hour/week position and does not include benefits Required work will occur during typical weekday business hours. Exact schedule is flexible. This position is mainly remote, but the assistant may be asked to work some days during our busiest periods from the office, where we adhere to the strictest health and safety guidelines. The temporary development assistant position will begin around Oct. 1 and end around Jan. 31, 2021, with a possibility of extension, as needed.
