Photo of Lawrence Roberts

Lawrence Roberts is a senior editor at ProPublica. He previously was investigations editor of The Washington Post, executive editor of the nonprofit Huffington Post Investigative Fund, projects editor at the Hartford Courant and an editor-at-large at Bloomberg News. He began his career in Seattle, where he helped start an alternative weekly and became a reporter and foreign correspondent for United Press International.

As an editor, Larry was a leader on teams that were honored with three Pulitzers: the Courant’s investigation into how the Hubble Space Telescope was launched with a flaw and, at the Post, projects on the vice presidency of Dick Cheney and the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal. As Post business editor, he directed a series showing how AOL used misleading accounting to fuel its disastrous merger with Time-Warner, which won the Gerald Loeb award. Larry taught at Wesleyan University as a Koeppel Journalism Fellow. He is based in the Washington, D.C. area.
