What I Cover
I focus on underreported communities and regions, documenting the intersections of immigration, labor and the environment. Through my work, I explore the human impact of these issues and the resilience of the people and communities navigating them. I welcome tips and connections from individuals and communities whose experiences and concerns feel underrepresented.
My Background
Before joining ProPublica, I covered Southern and Central California as an independent documentary photographer and writer. My work centered on Latino communities across the region, from documenting farmworkers and the health effects of agricultural pesticide exposure to reporting on domestic violence. I also covered the U.S. southern border under both Trump administrations, following families navigating the immigration system and documenting the ongoing deportations. In 2025, I was awarded the American Mosaic Journalism Prize, where judges recognized my “poignant coverage of farm workers, migrants, and transgender Latine groups.” Some of my clients included The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and NPR.
