Edwin Torres

Edwin J. Torres was areporting and photography fellow at ProPublica. He is a Knight-CUNY Journalism Scholar. He joined ProPublica from the New York Times, where he works as a freelance photojournalist covering features stories and breaking news in the New York City Metro area. He received his undergraduate degree from Colby College with a full scholarship through the Posse Foundation.

Prior to journalism, Edwin worked as a business insurance underwriter at Travelers. He grew up in the South Bronx and frequently volunteers at the Bronx Documentary Center. He is recipient of the 2015 Bronx Council of the Arts BRIO award (Bronx Recognizes its Own) for Excellence in Photography.
