Introducing Our BP Claims Tracker -- You Can Have It, Too

Our BP Claims Tracker does just that: it charts how much money BP has spent reimbursing claimants for Gulf Spill damages. The amount you see &ndash $396 million -- is the dollar figure reported by BP last Saturday, August 21. That's a lot of money, but nowhere near the $20 billion that BP has agreed to set aside in escrow to cover damages. We’ll update the tracker as Kenneth Feinberg, the Gulf claims czar appointed by President Barack Obama, makes data available about how much money is being spent now that he has taken over the claims process.

For more on how Feinberg has promised to change BP’s claims system, read “As Spill Claims Czar Takes Over, A Checklist of Promised Changes.”

Update: We are no longer offering this embeddable tracker.
