What I Cover
I’m interested in how bad actors exploit vulnerable consumers and escape federal oversight. In the past, I’ve written about scammers targeting immigrants and senators proposing clear labeling on lifesaving drugs. I speak English, Spanish and Hindi and work out of ProPublica’s office in Washington, D.C.
My Background
I recently graduated with a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill Investigative Lab, where I contributed to ProPublica’s “Rx Roulette” series on dangerous generic drug manufacturing conditions abroad. While there, I also pulled on my parents’ experiences with Immigration and Customs Enforcement impersonators to write about notario fraud, discovering that reports of the scams had doubled since the Trump administration took office again. That story led to an ongoing federal investigation.
I also interned for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where I covered Trump’s last-minute canceling of a sweeping, bipartisan housing bill and how Flock camera usage was expanding in Pennsylvania. I’ve previously written for local New York City papers as a student at NYU, where I contributed to a Pacemaker-winning editorial about a university athletic director with a documented history of sexual misconduct, and outlets in my home state of Georgia.
