I am an award-winning art director, photo editor and illustrator. My work has been recognized by the Society for News Design and by American Illustration, and it has been featured in Marketplace on NPR. From 2021-2024, I was a visual journalist at Axios. Before that, I worked at ProPublica as a contract visuals editor and story production fellow from 2019-2021.
Our reporting has shown how easily people — some with questionable backgrounds — have founded their own private schools in barns, strip malls and other places. That led us to an experiment: If the hurdles to open a school are so low, could we do it?
